The event was held at the splendid Jefferson Hotel, which hosted the Benefactors' Gala for Governor-elect Robert F. McDonnell on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010.
The Jefferson hotel is considered to be Richmond's finest hotel, and one of the best in the world. Presidents, politicians and celebrities such as Anthony stay there frequently.
Anthony performed below the magnificent staircase which some believe was the inspiration for the famous "Gone with the Wind" movie scene with Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara. The setting, surrounded by balconies, was a dramatic venue to showcase his powerful voice.
During the festivities, Anthony spent a considerable amount of one-on-one time with Gov.-elect McDonnell. He also had a chance to sing with the governor's father-in-law, Frank Gardner, a World War II veteran, who cherishes the songs of Ireland.
