Anthony Kearnsa very brief program biography

Anthony Kearns, founding member of The Irish Tenors, has performed for over a decade in the world’s most prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney [Australia] Opera House.  With The Irish Tenors, Kearns has recorded 10 best selling CDs, several of which went gold, platinum, and double platinum.  He is a noted interpreter of Irish music, considered the foremost tenor in Ireland. But his passion for music reaches beyond the sweet and stirring music of his homeland.

Anthony’s opera credits include Opera Ireland’s Faust, Carmen’s Don José for Ireland’s Glasthule Opera Company. and Don Ottavio in a Lismore Opera Company production of Don Giovanni.  Anthony also sang Fenton in an Italian production of Falstaff, Romeo for the Naples [FL]Opera Company’s production of Romeo & Juliet:  Then and Now, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, and reprised his role of Faust.  Steffanie Pearce, General and Artistic Director of Opera Naples is quoted:  "Anthony’s vocal technique is incredible; his high notes are thrilling and virile.  He is a joy to work with.  Voices like this don’t come along very often.  It’s a voice-of-the-century voice.” 

Anthony tours three times annually with The Irish Tenors, and has a thriving solo career, performing concert tours, oratorio, and opera. Believing in giving back, Anthony lends his name and talent to many good causes world-wide, raising funds for charities, churches, and schools, making time to do so on all of his solo tours.

His spring tour 2012 ended on the stage of the John F. Kennedy Library in a celebration of the late President's Irish roots, which are in the soil of County Wexford, where Anthony was born.  Jean Kennedy Smith, the late President's sister is quoted:  "I have never heard a better Irish Tenor voice."
