Anthony Kearns is a founding member of The Irish Tenors, one of Ireland’s most celebrated and longest running touring groups. Performing for over a decade in the world’s most prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney [Australia] Opera House, The Irish Tenors have produced ten best-selling CDs, several of which went gold and platinum. Their collaborative work for and with PBS ranks among the most lucrative and popular presentations PBS has ever broadcast, contributing to the trio’s unprecedented longevity.
Anthony tours three times annually with The Irish Tenors. He also has a thriving solo career, performing concert tours, oratorio, opera, with some of the world's finest orchestras. He also devotes considerable time and engery performing for charities and good causes world wide. His spring 2012 tour ended on the stage at the John F Kennedy Library in celebration of President Kennedy's ancestry in County Wexford, where Anthony was born. A few short years ago, he performed at a memorial in New Ross, CO Wexford for the late President. His sister, Joan Kennedy Smith was in attendance and said, "I have never heard a better Irish tenor voice!"
Anthony’s opera credits include Opera Ireland’s Faust, about which The Irish Times wrote: "Kearns’ subtle tonal shading and judicious use of well-supported head voice complements an exciting top register." Carmen’s Don José for Ireland’s Glasthule Opera Company, which was also reviewed by The Irish Times: "Anthony Kearns proved a top-notch Don José, rising to each decisive moment with quality to spare." His Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni (for Lismore Opera in Ireland) was reveiwed by the British Magazine Opera Now: "Anthony Kearns's beautifully spun Il mio tesoro was a moment of still beauty."
In addition to his opera work in Ireland, Kearns sang the role of Fenton in an Italian production of Falstaff in Tuscany and performed lead tenor in The Irish Ring in Carnegie Hall. Anthony has performed with Opera Naples [FL] as Romeo for the Naples Opera Company’s production of Romeo & Juliet: Then and Now, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, and a reprise of the title role of Faust. Steffanie Pearce, General and Artistic Director of Opera Naples is quoted: "Anthony’s vocal technique is incredible ... Voices like this don’t come along very often. It’s a voice-of-the-century voice.”
Kearns participated in a television special taped in Prague for Ireland’s Mind the Gap Films. Hallelujah Broadway was released across America on PBS stations, receiving high acclaim for the passionate interpretations of selections from some of Broadway’s most celebrated and stirring productions.
