Anthony Kearns Various Projects

Anthony Kearns performed at the Benefactors' Gala for Governor-elect Robert F. McDonnell on Friday, January 15, 2010 at the historic Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virgnia.

Anthony also sang "Amazing Grace" for 1,000 guests at the Official Prayer Breakfast for Governor-elect Robert. F. McDonnell, Democratic Governor Tim Kaine and others at the Richmond Marriott on January 16, 2010.

After his performances, he was an honored V.I.P. guest at the Official Swearing-in Ceremony and Parade for Virignia's 71st Governor, Bob McDonnell, a grandson of Irish immigrants.

Anthony Kearns was born in the village of Kiltealy Co. Wexford, Ireland.

He took an interest in mostly traditional music and song from an early age. He was educated at St. Mary's Faithful Companions of Jesus School in Bunclody Co. Wexford. It was here that he took part in musicals and played trombone with the school orchestra. After leaving school he began to study Hotel and Catering Management in Dublin and Wicklow.

In 1993 Anthony got the break he needed when he entered and won Ireland's Search for a Tenor competition. He began vocal studies with renowned singing teacher Dr. Veronica Dunne at the Leinster School of Music and Drama. After many years of opera studio, reciteals and concerts, he developed a solid career in Ireland and the U.K. In 1998 this was all to change for the better. He got a call to audition for anew gorup called The Irish Tenors.

Since recording their first show in Dublin in 1998, Live in Belfast in 1999, and Ellis Island in 2002 with their partners PBS, the Irish Tenors have become household names thorughout the United States and Canada selling in excess of three million albums. The Irish Tenors have appeard at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, The Sydney Opera House, and the Hollywood Bowl. They continue to perform on both sides of the Atlantic and have just released a new dvd of inspirational songs entitled Sacred, recorded for PBS in Chicago 2005.

As a soloist, Anthony tours with his accompanist and frined Patrick Healy. Their wide range of repertoire includes opera, Viennese light opera, musicals and Irish songs. He has performed as a soloist in concert with orchestras across the world such as the Toronot Symphony, The Boston Pops, the National Symphony Orhcestra of Ireland and the Czech Philharmonic.

In the word of opera Anthony has performed the role of Fenton in Verdi's Falstaff at the Montepulciano Opera Festival in Italy. For Lyric Opera in Ireland he has performed the role of Alfredo and Macduff in Verdi's La Traviata and Macbeth. Last year he sang Rinnuccio in Puccini's Gianni Schicci for Opera Irealnd. In April 2006 he took on the role of Faust in Gounod's Faust. Most recently he performed in a fitting tribute to tenor John Count McCormack in Icon of an Age at the National Concert Hall.
